"New" Pair O' Shoes

Continuing my blog's unintentional shoe theme...

My dad is an ebaying fool. More specifically, he is into ebay for:
1. Selling fishing pole racks and other skillfully handcrafted items,
2. Buying things for the water features in the back yard,
3. Shopping for a 1967 (I will be corrected if this is the wrong year) Chevy Camaro, the one that got away, and lately
4. New Balance shoes, new or gently used. This is the item that I understand the least.

I wasn't too surprised when, in a recent phone call, Dad asked me what size of New Balance shoes I wear. I reluctlanly disclosed the information, fearing someone's dirty old shoes appearing in my mailbox. He later let me know that he found a wonderful pair that I would love as they were trimmed with purple. As the day they were supposed to arrive neared, I checked daily for a key in my mailbox. The key would be for the larger box where they put packages. Then one evening as I was reaching to feel for the key, I thunked my hand on something. I peered in to find a tight fitting package in my mailbox. I wrangled it out then noticed that it was an incredibly small shoe box.

Unfortunately, Dad accidentally ordered girls' shoes, not women's. He is right though, I would have LOVED these...15 or so years ago. It is the thought that counts.

Patti's Days

This year I'm claiming three days for my birthday instead of the usual two. My birthday falls the day after St. Patrick's day, and I like to pretend that all of the celebration is in my honor. Tonight (because that's how it worked out logistically) I'm gathering my Lawrence friends for dinner at the Mad Greek, thereby extending the celebration to three days.

Until then, I'm off to take a hefty dose of NyQuil and sleep the day away. I want to kick this wicked bad cold and have an enjoyable evening. That's my strategy, and I hope it works.

A Flock Of Seagulls

The other day at Checkers I saw at least six seagulls. They must have flown into town from Clinton Lake. And I ran, I ran so far away.

Patti Squared Goes To Europe

My current obsession is my upcoming trip to Europe at the end of May. Patti squared refers to my dear, sweet grandmother and I. She is my namesake, although the only one I've ever heard call her Patty is Grandpa. Everyone else calls her Pat. She's a neat lady, and we are going to enjoy a trip to England and Ireland. Perhaps cousin Becky will join us. It will be grand. Grandma is up for anything and is letting me plan the itenerary. I think I have it just about nailed down, but I would appreciate input from anyone who has been to "Eire" or London, or who has heard things about these places. I think we'll go heavy on the castles and scenic views. Simply driving a car will be an adventure in itself. I'm up for it. I've got a serious case of wanderlust.
