Student Exchange Program

As some of you know, this year I've been involved with putting together a site to host a foreign pharmacy student in Lawrence. It is coming together very well. We will have "Joan," a Spanish student, for a month in August. He will be staying in the home of one of my favorite pharmacists, Lynn. :) Joan will be working in one of the Pharmacology/Toxicology labs for the majority of his stay. The rest will be spent in different places to give him a feel for the crazy way we practice pharmacy in the U.S. Side note: I would like to spend one of my rotations in Slovenija as part of the SEP. More on this later.

I offered to put together some sort of notebook with ideas for things to do in the Lawrence/KC area. Aside from the Plaza, Worlds of Fun, Coyotes (mechanical bull), and Clinton Lake, I don't really know what to include in this notebook. What would a Spanish student be interested in doing in this area? I know some of you have done lots of thinking about Lawrence lately, and I would appreciate your ideas.

Rainy Day Blues

It has been cold and rainy for the last couple of days in Lawrence. I was kind of "blah" until I opened my email this morning. It's funny how something as simple as photos of ridiculous shoes can cheer me up. :) Thanks Mom!

Workout Music

Lately, like for the past month, I have been hitting the gym pretty hard. Sometimes I go with friends, (shout outs to Myrinda, Ro, and Beth!) and sometimes I go by myself. This brings me to the subject of this post. What is the best workout music ever? So far the best I've found is Jamiroquai's Synkronized album. It's amazing. I mean, it starts with "Canned Heat." I feel like I'm sweatin' with Napoleon.

I think that good workout music should be fast and energetic, (obviously) but that it should also be happy. Even stupid happy, unless it's early in the morning in which case stupid happy would be irritating. Does anyone have any ideas about rap that would be good to work out to? I'm really getting into rap/hip hop lately, but mostly old school. Lemme know! Comment...

My Very First Post/Indian Revolution

Hello! So this be my first post. I'm not sure what I'll be putting here, although I will probably talk about music too much. I tend to enjoy life's little ironies so there will probably be lots of stupid little stories. Like this one!

So I've lived in Lawrence for almost 2 years now. I've been wanting to go to India Palace for a long time, but never had before today. My least favorite class was cancelled today (Yay!) opening up 2 hours for lunch. Some friends from class and I went to India Palace. I mean to tell you it was delicious. I was excited about going back some time. BUT shortly after the meal I began to feel disgusing. (Lava lamp!) The spices disagreed with me to say the least. Oh, and then I had to go to work. Apparently I should stick to white girl food.

This may not be the best to start my blogging career with...but to be honest it's probably fairly indicative of the type of material that's to come.

Peace.
